For those of us in Singapore over the last week, it was made very clear that there was a buzz about town. That excitement was due to the Top 8 women tennis stars (singles & doubles) gracing the center court of the Singapore Indoor Stadium for the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore 2015 presented by SC Global.
The stage was set, as we witnessed some of the highest quality women’s tennis we have seen in some time. In my opinion, the girls genuinely thought that due to the absence of current world number 1 Serena Williams – they had a shot of winning. This clearly raised the bar as we saw some insanely good action on the court. Congrats of course to the 26 year old Agnieszka “Aga” Radwańska from Poland, who took out the honors winning this year’s finals.
The action off the court was equally in full force at the Racquet Club – the event’s VIP corporate hospitality marquee. Celebrities, CEO’s, socialites and of course the legends and current superstars of women’s tennis were present throughout the week to create what was arguably one of Singapore’s most premium sports hospitality offering.
On Wednesday 28th October, the event launched its inaugural Ladies Day at the Tennis. A day dedicated to celebrating the success of women both on the world stage and in their respective communities. The event brought together over 100 women from all walks of life who were dressed to the nines, following the dress code of tennis chic.
The highlight of the event was the content it created on stage. An expert panel hosted by the gorgeous Colette Wong (presenter Fox Sports Asia) brought together WTA President Micky Lawler, WTA Legend and Microsoft Singapore CEO & Parliament Member, Jessica Tan. The fireside chat was meaningful and at times funny (Martina’s senses of humor captured the crowd’s attention). The women discussed issues around glass ceilings, empowerment at home & in the office and also shared their own personal accounts on how to succeed in life today as a strong & confident woman.
There was plenty of questions from the audience including our own CONNECT members. We were thrilled that we were able to host our latest CONNECT event at this amazing gathering and look forward to next year already. After some delicious nibbles (and lots of Moet champagne), we were ushered off to the Moet Aces Lounge (yes, it kept flowing) and then to our premium baseline seats for some very enjoyable tennis. What a great day!
A big congrats to the lovely Tournament Director Sarah Clements and her amazing team for creating this wonderful event. There is definitely a lot of positive chatter about this event online and we hope to host more of you mompreneurs there next year!
